Brief
An orchard trust asked for a shelter where pickers could eat, school groups could gather and anyone caught in the rain could wait it out.
Approach
We built a square timber frame with a lantern roof and no walls, set on a low plinth so it stays dry in a wet spring. It sits on the slope where the old packing shed stood.
Materials
Green oak posts and beams from a local sawmill, a cedar-shingle roof and a plinth of reclaimed brick from the old shed.
